An immigrant’s story

WW1HA member Andrew Pouncey has a new soldier’s story on his website.

“James Canestrari enlisted in the army in Memphis, TN., June 27, 1917, at 20 years of age, and he and thousands of immigrants like him believed they would become Americans.”

How did that work out for him?

He got started here:

Company A, 114th Field Artillery, 55th Field Artillery Brigade, 30th Division

Where did he end up? Well, I could tell you, but I would probably leave out half the good parts.
